No one imagined that social media could be used for anything other than fun and entertainment, but as digital connectivity has grown, so has social media. It is no longer limited to memes, fun or joy, but has evolved into empowerment with inspiring stories. Priyanka Sharma, a well-known Moj designer, has such a story. While she rose to fame through her entertaining and creative lip-synching, acting and dancing videos, her story as a single mother has inspired many on social media. Her passion for theater helped her embark on the adventure of content creation. Priyanka shares her beautiful journey of balancing between a successful designer and a wonderful mother on Mother’s Day.

Do you remember how far you went to raise your child on your own? Tell us about this experience.

Raising your child as a single parent is not an easy task. You have to double up and play multiple roles to fill the void. I work so hard for my son so I can give him everything he wants, and I don’t want him to feel like “if daddy hote to aisa hota”. I had to be strong, not just for myself but for my son, because I couldn’t bear the thought of him looking at me broken. But I’m pretty happy with where I am with my son.

Does content creation support you? How did you start creating content?

Before embarking on my content creation journey, I worked as a freelance makeup artist, but this required me to leave my son home alone on a regular basis, which hampered his studies and growth. I couldn’t give her my full attention as I had to manage work outside the home. I had no other options at the time, but my love of theater and fashion inspired me to start creating content on Moj, and I had no idea I was going to be the user most popular app. When I thought it was too hard, Moj pushed me. Although creating content takes time, I can work from home while spending time with my son. Along with a breath of fresh air, it made my life a little easier. I started creating content during lockdown because I didn’t have time to go out for makeup. I was worried about my future, but luckily Moj came into my life at that time, and life gave me a second chance. I remember how motivated I was when I briefly became popular on this platform. With the love and appreciation for the app, I decided to pursue content creation, continue learning tips and tricks about it, and get my name engraved on all social platforms.

What impact has motherhood had on your life and what message would you like to share with mothers who can relate to your story?

My years as a mother have made me incredibly proud of every other aspect of my life. Motherhood made me who I am today. I doubt I would be in this situation without my son. Being a single mother is not only a life full of struggles, but a journey for the strongest, and I’m the strongest because my little one made me one; I respect all moms who do double duty during their motherhood. I would tell any single mom to embrace motherhood and wear it as a badge of honor. Nothing less.

Tell us an important lesson you learned from your mother that you want your child to know too.

Every daughter learns from her mother. My mother, like all mothers, is very loving and supportive, and I see the same character traits passed on to me and then to my son, for which I am very grateful. Thanks to the love and support of my mother and my son, I can concentrate on my work. They both believe in me and believe that if I put my heart into it I can accomplish anything, so they call me a superwoman. Finally, I want to emphasize that being a single parent means doubling the work, the stress and the tears but also doubling the love, the hugs and the pride.
