Gossip Girl Star Blake Lively makes her big-screen directorial debut for an adaptation of Scott Pilgrim Creator Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Graphic Novel seconds, The Hollywood Reporter found.
It’s not totally Lively’s first time behind the camera, as she directed Taylor Swift’s music video for her song. “I bet you think of me” back in November of last year. She was nominated for the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards for Directing and Producing.
Adaptation seconds will also involve Edgar Wright (who adapted the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim against the world) as screenwriter and co-producer.

Marc Platt, who was also a producer on Scott Pilgrim vs the World, will join Wright as co-producer of this Searchlight Pictures film.
The graphic novel released in 2014 follows the story of a woman named Katie Clay who is a chef at a restaurant called, you guessed it, Seconds.
One day, she receives the power to fix her past mistakes by writing them down in a notebook, eating a mushroom, and falling asleep. However, soon enough, this power backfires, leaving his life in shambles and the universe itself threatened.
It was the first graphic novel written by O’Malley since his wildly popular Scott Pilgrim series.
Lively has not only shown an interest in acting and directing, but also in writing. In an interview last year, her husband Ryan Reynolds opened up about his uncredited writing contributions to dead Pool.
“[Blake] is a really talented person, with several hyphens in this strange burgoo of an entertainment industry that we work in,” he told a SiriusXM Town Hall with Jess Cagle.
“She helped me so much dead Pool, all kinds of movies that were big hits. She still has a lot of bricks in that wall.”
He added: “Maybe it’s because there’s inherent sexism in the business. I’ll say a lot of times, ‘She wrote that, Blake wrote that, not me. That was, that ‘was, it was her.’ And it’s like, later on, they’re repeating the story again like ‘I wrote it’.”
